Tant les cyclistes fervents que les novices profiteront d'interminables kilomètres de sentiers de terre qui sillonnent des paysages spectaculaires et tranquilles. Ces sentiers de randonnée lui permettront de découvrir des points de vue différents sur les routes qu'empruntent les Tours réguliers. Les randonnées d'un ou de plusieurs jours le porteront au cœur des montagnes, en direction des volcans et dans les secteurs ruraux du Costa Rica. Appréciez l'importante biodiversité du Costa Rica et de sa beauté, sur votre vélo !

Quoi apporter:

- Clothing: Costa Rica is a very informal and casual country. Formal attire is only used in the city of San Jose and on very special occasions (Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries)
- We recommend to bring a sweater for the highland areas, and light loose fitting shirts, pants or jeans, and shorts for the lowland areas.
- For the beach areas please don´t forget to bring a hat or cap, sunscreen, and sun glasses.
- For the rainforest and the National Parks we recommend hiking boots, a small backpack, water bottle, pocket knife, flashlight, insect repellent, rainwear, and a pair of binoculars to observe animals.

Daily Itinerary : 3 Days / 2 Nights

Day 1 : Arrival

Your guide will greet you at the airport and drive you to our hotel surrounded by coffee and sugar cane plantations, at the foothills of Poás Volcano. We’ll fit bikes this afternoon and enjoy a traditional Costa Rican dinner

Overnight at Orquideas Inn or similar, Standard Room

Day 2 : : La Tigra – Fortuna / Hot Springs

After a splendid breakfast at our hotel we shuttle to the quiet village of La Tigra where we start our scenic bike ride by the true rural Costa Rica. We’re heading towards Arenal Volcano, the most spectacular of Costa Rica’s active volcanoes. This evening we’ll visit the beautiful Eco Termales Hot Springs and enjoy a special homemade meal prepared by Doña Mireya and her family.
Biking distance: 31 km / 19 miles on paved road Altitude gain: 585 m (1931 ft)

Overnight at Hotel Monte Real or similar, standard Room

Day 3 : : Rio Celeste

We’ll take the morning off our bikes today and do a guided hike on the slopes of Tenorio Volcano
National Park. This 7 km hike takes us to the point in the river where Mother Nature magically mixes
the water of two crystal-clear streams, changing its color to the beautiful light-blue we call Celeste. The
trail continues through the forest to reach the stunningly colored Rio Celeste Waterfall. All this time the surrounding rainforest is full of amazing life forms, smells and sounds. Hiking time 3 hours

Overnight at Hotel Monte Real or similar, Standard Room

Day 4 : : Fortuna – Nuevo Arenal

Today we ride the quiet northern shore of Lake Arenal. Using a narrow road through secondary forest
we have great chances of spotting wildlife and enjoying superb views of the lake and the Volcano.
Today's distance: 33 to 53 km / 20.5 to 33 miles all on pavement. Altitude gain: 470 m (1542 ft)

Overnight at Lucky Bug Bed & Breakfast or similar, Standard Room

Day 5 : : Tierras Morenas – Cañas

Today’s ride will take us away from Lake Arenal into the Northern Guanacaste Volcanic Range. We’ll experience a dramatic change of scenery today as we go from the lush rainforest, to the brownish tropical dry forest on the west.
Distance: 26 km / 16 miles. (14 km on gravel)/ Altitude gain: 365 m (1200 ft)

Overnight at Hotel Samara Pacific or similar, Standard Room

Day 6 : : Samara Beach Loop Ride

Our final ride takes us on quiet rural dirt roads along the nicest beaches of Guanacaste. Enjoy a beautiful sunset and a splendid farewell seafood dinner. Distance: from 22 to 50 km / 14 to 25 miles on gravel roads
Altitude gain: 290 m (950 ft)

Overnight at Hotel Samara Pacific or similar, Standard Room

Day 7 : : Return to San José

Enjoy the morning at the beach; take a last swim in the Pacific or do some extra mileage on your bike before driving back to San José or the Airport this afternoon
